Yoo Jae Suk Discovered To Have Made Secret Large Donations For 4 Years

The “Nation’s MC” and entertainer has been making donations to the same foundation for the past 4 years.

Yoo Jae Suk has made donations of coal briquettes to the Welfare Community Foundation for the past 4 years. The foundation revealed the staggering amount of briquettes Yoo Jae Suk donated this year, which amounted to over 180 million won.

Yoo Jae Suk began donating coal briquettes in 2013 when Infinity Challenge had a special episode involving the aforementioned coal briquettes and he used his earnings to purchase a large amount of briquettes to donate.

Environmental concerns -- particularly over the use of coal -- have been pushed to the top of the agenda after much of the country was covered with a blanket of pollution this past month. The air quality index (AQI) from the Beijing Municipal Environmental Monitoring Centre reached 993 during the worst of the pollution, almost 40 times the World Health Organisation's recommended safe limit. In 2014, he donated 40,000 briquettes and doubled that number to over 80,000 in 2015. Throughout the past 4 years, Yoo Jae Suk’s donations have totaled over 180 million won’s worth ($154,036).

The Foundation’s representative Heo Ki Muk expressed his thanks to Yoo Jae Suk, saying “It is in the spirit of a dignified neighbor to look after those who are having difficulties in society,” and continued expressing his gratitude.

This is simply a lifestyle for Yoo Jae Suk. Back in October, he donated 50 million won to the victims of Typhoon Chaba.
