In his interview with Weverse Magazine, he revealed the event that had unexpectedly inspired him to become a singer.
During Soobin’s school days, there was an upcoming event where the students could showcase their skills. Since his friends were participating, they had one request. “My friends asked me to go up on stage with them, but I turned them down.”
His friends didn’t accept that answer and took matters into their own hands, “Then after that, they put my name on the sign-up sheet without even telling me.”
Rather than back out of it, Soobin went through with it and didn’t regret it. “Renting a practice studio and rehearsing with friends, and sometimes fooling around—the whole process was so fun.”
Even when it came to going on stage in front of his classmates, the shy Soobin gave it his all. “I thought I would regret it if I gave a dialed-back performance just because I was shy, so I put my whole heart into it.”
From the praise they received, that’s when Soobin realized there was only one place he wanted to be: “I was happy when kids I didn’t even know came up to me and said that they enjoyed our performance. That’s when I thought, ‘I wanna be on stage again.’”
If it hadn’t been for his friends’ persistence, Soobin might not have gained that desire to become the idol everyone loves.
