GS25 Is Offering A Snazzy New Way To Celebrate Pepero Day

Looking for the perfect Pepero Day gift? GS25 has you covered.

This year, love ones can celebrate Pepero Day with the gift of chocolate…or something a little shinier.

For those who don’t know, Pepero Day is a Korean holiday similar to Valentine’s Day that’s held on November 11 each year. It’s a day to show love for your friends, family, and significant other by giving them chocolate-dipped Pepero cookie sticks.

No one knows exactly how this candy-centric holiday came to be, but there are theories. Some believe it stemmed from a news story set in 1983 that was based on a fad. In the story, two Yeongnam middle school students exchanged Pepero while wishing they would become tall and thin like the sticks. At the time, Pepero sticks were all the rage with students.

Supposedly, one must eat 11 packets of Pepero on November 11 at 11:11 AM and 11:11 PM exactly 11 seconds after the 11 minute mark for maximum height and thinness results.

Others believe the holiday it has less to do with thinness and is more about the date itself; the number “11” closely resembles two Pepero sticks.

While Pepero is, naturally, the most popular gift one gives on Pepero Day, the Korean convenience store brand GS25 has offered a snazzier option this year.

These Pepero-themed gift sets come with a gorgeous Pepero-shaped necklace…

…and heart necklaces with several different gemstones to choose from.

So, if you’re looking for a way to make this Pepero Day extra-special, consider buying one of these jewelry sets for your loved one.

Other options include: eating all the Pepero sticks you can get your hands on…

…playing Jenga with Pepero boxes…

…doing Pepero dominos…

…or playing the classic Pepero game!
