Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz Reveals How He First Met BTS’ RM

“There were just like a zillion fans behind him.”

Fall Out Boy‘s Pete Wentz shared his funny story about the time he first met BTS‘s RM, and fans can’t really seem to tell whether he was joking or telling the truth.

Pete Wentz was having a Q&A session in Berlin, Germany on January 8 when an audience member asked about Fall Out Boy’s recent collaboration with RM.

BTS RM and Fall Out Boy Announce Surprise Collaboration

“My kid had this birthday party at an arcade, and I was running around trying to avoid 9-year-olds for a minute, and this giant group of people came running in. I was like, ‘Oh, what is that?’ And they were like, ‘Oh, it’s the guy from BTS and he just has to play Dance Dance Revolution everywhere he goes or something crazy.’ And there were just like a zillion fans behind him.

So, we reached out after we investigated. We were like, ‘Would he want to do a feature,’ and they were like yes. He was really specific. They told us he wants to a remix of “Champion” and he’s got an idea for it. We were like ‘Oh, great’ and that was that.”

Fans were wondering if this was another way of Pete trying to have fun with his fans since if RM was actually surrounded by a “zillions fans” playing Dance Dance Revolution, there would definitely be video proof of it.

Fall Out Boy and RM’s collaboration track “Champion (Remix)” went viral on social media and trended worldwide shortly after its release.

RM recently held his live broadcast RM’s Hello 2018! and revealed he couldn’t recall how Fall Out Boy found out, but they contacted him through Big Hit Entertainment, where they agreed to collaborate. The track was released on December 15 and reached No. 2 on the Billboard Rock Digital Song Sales Chart.

Give a big shout out to the Fall Out Boys for recognizing RM’s talent!
