TWICE‘s Mina took gift giving to the next level by going out of her way to learn how to knit!
For a Secret Santa activity, the girls were tasked with completing a mission and giving a chosen member a gift. At the start of her “TW-LOG with SECRET FRIEND” vlog, Mina shared her initial worries about what to give her recipient who had asked for “something weird and special.”
Now what present should I give? At first, when I picked this person, I thought, “She would like anything I give her.” So I was pretty relaxed about it. We were talking about what gift we wanted, and she said, “I want something weird and special.” So I’m pretty worried. I’m pressed for time. What should I get?
Mina ended up deciding to give a handmade gift, and it doesn’t get any more special than that! She attended a one-on-one knitting class for the first time in her life.
Although it was the first time she learned how to knit, she was already praised by her teacher, who told her, “The color is so pretty, and look at those stitches. I’m so proud of you! You’re very good.”
Later that night, she continued her project and revealed that she was making a pouch.
I made a little pouch and put little strawberries on it. Cute, right? It took me so long to get here. If I make a mistake, I get really sad. I can do this, right? I hope it turns out well.
After a while, she began to feel tired. She explained that she didn’t expect knitting to require so much of her strength. “So it takes a lot of strength. I didn’t anticipate this. I heard you can get body aches after this. I have to relax my body.”
She expressed her genuine desire to see her recipient enjoying the gift. “I have a feeling that this person will like my gift. I mean she might not, but I’m hoping she will. I’m feeling pretty good right now.”
Stitch by stich, she continued knitting until 2 a.m. that night.
The next day, she attended her second and final knitting class—and she killed it!
She added the finishing touches to her project and proudly revealed the results. She ended up deciding to make it a shoulder bag so that it would get more use.
With a combination of love and hard work, Mina successfully completed her special, one-of-a-kind gift. The member she is giving it to is extremely lucky!
