SM Entertainment to seek legal action against Philippines DOH for plagiarizing f(x)’s “Rum Pum Pum Pum”

SM Entertainment responds to the recent controversy with the use of f(x)’s “Rum Pum Pum Pum” in a public service announcement for teenage pregnancy by the Philippines Department of Health.

On December 8th, an official from the agency confirmed that the Department of Health in the Philippines did plagiarize f(x)’s track as they have not received any permission for its use. The agency further confirmed that they will be seeking legal action for the plagiarism.

The Department of Health in the Philippines received public backlash for its negative and plagiarized public service announcement on teenage pregnancy which was originally posted through their official Facebook page back in November 30th. The controversial video was deemed for its inappropriate lyrics and derogatory terms, along with its similarity to f(x)’s “Rum Pum Pum Pum,” which led fans to accuse the department for plagiarism.

The video has been pulled out from the official page since but is continiously being reposted and criticized online.

The Department of Health in the Philippines has not issued a statement on its recent blunder.
