Momoland’s Nayun Will Take A Hiatus From The Group Due To Vestibular Disorder

“We have judged that it would be best for her to focus on treatment as health is the top priority.”

MOMOLAND’s agency, MLD Entertainment, announced that Nayun will be temporarily halting promotions with MOMOLAND to focus on her health.

After visiting the hospital for symptoms of dizziness, they discovered that Nayun was suffering from benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) and decided that it would be best for her to take a break and focus on treating the disorder.

BPPV is a disorder related to the inner ear which causes vertigo depending on the positioning of the head. Symptoms include dizziness, vertigo, nausea, vomiting, loss of balance, etc. Treatment for BPPV includes procedures that involve maneuvering the location of crystals in the ear through head movements and/or medication that helps with vertigo. The illness can also be cured on its own with time.

Many other celebrities including Lee Guk Joo, NS Yoon-G, Lee Ji Hyun and Kim Jae Dong have also suffered from this disorder, which is apparently fairly common in adults.

Although the specific cause of the disorder is unclear, stress, anxiety, physical impact or aging are known to be possible causes of the disorder.

MLD Entertainment notified fans and the public through MOMOLAND’s fan cafe that the idol group will be promoting with 8 members until Nayun fully recovers and is able to rejoin them.

“Hello. This is MLD Entertainment.
We sincerely appreciate everyone who supports and loves MOMOLAND.
One of MOMOLAND’s members, Nayun, has recently been suffering from dizziness and after running some tests at the hospital, she was diagnosed with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. Nayun is showing great determination for MOMOLAND’s promotions but we have judged that it would be best for her to focus on treatment as health is the top priority. Nayun, the MOMOLAND members and all staff of our agency including our CEO will do our best to help Nayun recover quickly.
Due to the situation, MOMOLAND will unfortunately be promoting as an 8-member group (Hyebin, Yeonwoo, Jane, Taeha, Daisy, JooE, Ahin, Nancy) for the time being. We ask fans to support Nayun so that she may be able to rejoin MOMOLAND in their promotions and we apologize for the unfortunate news.
Thank you.”
