Lovelyz’s Kei Reveals How Her Relationship With Other Female Idols Changed Since Appearing On “Queendom”

“I have a hard time opening up to people…”

Lovelyz‘s Kei recently sat down for an interview where she dished about the friends she made through the girl group competition program, titled Queendom.

She revealed that she didn’t open up to people well before but was able to become friends with many of the fellow idols, such as MAMAMOO‘s Hwasa, (G)I-DLE‘s Yuqi, and Park Bom!

I got close to Hwasa and also (G)I-DLE’s Yuqi.

And Park Bom as well. I personally respected her and thought we were getting closer, but she confirmed it by sending me a message during Korean Thanksgiving. She told me about her trip and asked what I wanted to eat.

I’m amazed that I’m exchanging messages with her.

But her friendship with Hwasa was accentuated through the show because of their recent duo performance of Billie Eilish’s “with you were gay”. She approached Hwasa first and Hwasa welcomed her with open arms and their friendship blossomed quickly!

I have a hard time opening up to people, and I’m quiet, but when it comes to work, I’m the type to directly move forward.

I was already a fan of Hwasa. She has a very different style than me, but her performances were amazing, so I think that’s why I approached her first. I was so thankful that she reciprocated back.

Kei revealed that although they may be friends of the same age, she learned so much from Hwasa while preparing their performance.

While we were practicing, she felt more like a teacher than a duet partner. She helped me with parts that didn’t fit well with me, and coached me on my expressions. I learned a lot from her.

I think I made the right choice to appear on Queendom. When else would I have gotten the chance to stand with Hwasa on stage?
