LOONA Stans Create Viral News That Kim Lip Is Suing Lana Del Rey

“LOONA member Kim Lip has now released a statement on the defamatory comments previously made by Lana Del Rey.”

LOONA recently uploaded a vlog featuring member Kim Lip… And, they probably didn’t expect what was going to happen next.

An Orbit re-tweeted it with a satirical message that reads:

LOONA member Kim Lip has now released a statement on the defamatory comments previously made by Lana Del Rey. Please watch this video if you have not already. She mentioned she will be suing for defamation and is currently in contact with lawyers.

Now, if you’re confused, that’s totally understandable. In late May, singer Lana del Rey was under fire for a controversial post shared to her Instagram account where she called out what she perceived to be double-standards in the industry. Unfortunately, del Rey predominantly named women of color in her call out.

The first part of her post reads:

Question for the culture:

Now that Doja Cat, Ariana, Camila, Cardi B, Kehlani and Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé have had number ones with songs about being sexy, wearing no clothes, f*cking, cheating, etc – can I please go back to singing about being embodied, feeling beautiful by being in love even if the relationship is not perfect, or dancing for money – or whatever I want – without being crucified for saying that I’m glamorizing abuse??????

—Lana del Rey

A talented Orbit photoshopped Lana del Rey’s original post so that it instead listed Kim Lip’s name instead of Kehlani. Fans allege that Lana had originally posted the graphic with Kim Lip’s name before deleting it and uploading a new version naming Kehlani.

While some fans don’t seem to have been clued in on the fact that the “news” isn’t real, the original poster seemed to have written the satirical tweet in an effort to draw attention to the cause “Orbits for Black Lives”.

As this Orbit said, “I really respect Orbit for making LOONA go viral for the weirdest, stupidest and most amazing reasons. ILY Orbin and LOONA.” And, while they went about it in a very interesting way, the cause they’re promoting is worthwhile. Check out the “Orbit for Black Lives” campaign and stan LOONA.
