Singer Lee Hyori To Officially Close Her Instagram Account

She will be finding a different way to interact with fans.

On September 2 KST, singer Lee Hyori made a post on her Instagram announcing that she would be closing her account.

Hello everyone. I will be leaving my Instagram account open for the next three days or so before I stop Instagram. It’s not because of what happened previously (although that did influence this decision a bit). I originally started this to communicate with my fans but because I don’t do that many activities often my fans are always left waiting for more news. This platform is harder than I thought and it’s hard not to worry about things. I will try to find a different method to communicate with my fans. Thank you for always supporting and loving me even though I am undeserving. I also thank those that gave criticism as well. I hope that everyone will continue to stay strong in their own positions during these hard times. I love you and thank you.

Lee Hyori created her Instagram account in 2016, and although not frequent, she tried to update when she could for her fans. Earlier this year, her Instagram post of going to Karaoke with Girls’ Generation’s Yoona started a controversy as it was posted when it was advised not to go outside due to COVID-19. She also received more criticism after her joke using the Chinese name Mao.

Although she won’t be on Instagram anymore, you can watch more of her through the new project group ‘Refund Sisters’ on the MBC variety show Hangout with Yoo.
