2 K-Pop Soloists Just Made Their First Debut On A Billboard Singles Chart

One of these two has never made the chart as a soloist before!

The Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart is a weekly chart that lists the 25 best-selling international singles in the United States that week. Because K-Pop has been getting more and more popular in the country, it’s not unusual for it to take up half, or even more, of the chart!

BTS

That’s the case this week, with 14 of the songs on the list belonging to K-Pop artists, and two of these songs are actually newly debuted from two solo artists, one of which has never had a song chart on the list before.

GOT7’s Jackson Wang

The highest-ranking of the two, and also the highest-ranking K-Pop artist song on the chart this week, is Jackson Wang‘s “Alone”, which comes in at #4 for its debut. Though the song is in Chinese, since Jackson is a very well-known idol in the K-Pop industry as a member of GOT7, he deserves to be recognized for his accomplishment! He has had another song on the chart before, “Should’ve Let Go”, which was a collaboration with JJ Lin, and it peaked at #19.

GOT7 themselves have had 32 songs make it onto the World Digital Song Sales chart, with “Fly”, “Hard Carry”, and “Lullaby” being their top-rated singles peaking at #2.

The second newly debuted soloist song is placed at #19: “Love So Fine” by ASTRO‘s Eunwoo. The song serves as the OST for the drama True Beauty, which Eunwoo himself is starring in. Though ASTRO has had four songs make it onto the chart, the highest-placing of which was “All Night” that peaked at #6, this is Eunwoo’s first time making it onto the chart solo!

Out of the other 12 K-Pop songs charting this week, 5 are from BTS, which is actually a relatively low number for them considering how many songs they often have on the chart each week! The songs on the list currently are “Filter” at #5 (48th week on the chart), “Euphoria” at #9 (51st week on the chart), “My Time” at #10 (48th week on the chart), “Life Goes On” at #13 (11th week on the chart), and “Mic Drop” (ft. Desiigner) at #24.

BLACKPINK has two songs ranking on the chart this week, which is pretty normal for them! “How You Like That” spends its 31st week on the chart at #11, down from #8 last week. They also take the #21 spot with “Kill This Love”, which has now been on the chart for 83 weeks and is down from #18 last week.

IU‘s latest song, “Celebrity”, spends its 2nd week on the chart at #7, down from its debut placement at #3. Just below that at #8 is HyunA‘s “I’m Not Cool”, which is also on its 2nd week and rose quite a bit from its place at #19 last week.

PSY is the last K-Pop soloist ranking this week, with his massive hit “Gangnam Style” ranked at #15 and now on its 353rd week spent on the chart. It’s actually the third longest-charting song on the World Digital Song Sales chart of all time, with only “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” by Israel Kamakawiwoʻole and “Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride” by Kamehameha Schools Children’s Chorus & Mark Kealiʻi Hoʻomalu spending more time on the list with 579 and 368 weeks respectively.

Dreamcatcher also has a song charting for the second week right now, with “Odd Eye” ranked at #16 and down from #5 last week. And finally, (G)I-DLE is the last K-Pop artist with a song ranked this week, with “HWAA” spending its fourth week at #20 and down from #6 last week.

Congratulations to all the artists that are currently charting!
