An Incredible 9 K-Pop Albums Received New Gaon Certifications In February

Two albums reached the million+ milestone this month!

Every month, Gaon announces new certifications for K-Pop albums and songs that have reached certain numbers of sales, downloads, or streams. These are always huge achievements for artists, and are worth congratulating when they’re announced!

For the album category, an album will receive a platinum certification at 250k sales, double platinum at 500k sales, triple platinum at 750k sales, and a million certification at one million sales (as well as double, triple, etc. for multiple-million sales).

On February 10, Gaon awarded new certifications to 9 K-Pop albums!

Five of the nine albums received platinum certifications this month. The first is SM Entertainment‘s special album, 2021 Winter SMTOWN: SMCU Express, which was released on December 27, 2021 and features a variety of artists like Super JuniorNCTaespaGirls’ Generation, and many others!

The second album that reached the 250,000 sales mark to earn the platinum certification is ATEEZ‘s most recent album, ZERO: FEVER Epilogue. Released on December 10, 2021 with the title tracks “Turbulence” and “The Real”, it has now made around 407,000 sales!

Another album to earn a platinum certification in February is IVE‘s debut album, Eleven. Though it just came out on December 1, 2021 and is their first album, it has already sold nearly 330,000 units, which is incredible for a newly debuted girl group!

The fourth album to achieve this milestone this month is Kai‘s most recent solo album, Peaches. Released on November 30, 2021, this second EP from the EXO member has sold around 265,000 units.

Finally, the last K-Pop album to earn a platinum certification in February is The First Step: Chapter Three by TREASURE. This is their third single album, released on November 6, 2020, and has just surpassed the 250,000 sales mark.

Two albums reached the double platinum certification requirements in February, meaning they surpassed 500,000 sales! The first is Stray Kids‘ most recent album, Christmas EveL, which was released on November 29, 2021. The single album is already nearly to triple platinum sales numbers, with around 743,000 units sold so far.

The second album to earn a double platinum certification this month is ITZY‘s most recent and first full-length album, Crazy in Love. It was released on September 24, 2021, and has made nearly 560,000 sales so far.

One album reached the million certification requirements in February: Universe by NCT. Released on December 14, 2021, this third album by the full group has sold around 1.63 million copies, and is the best-selling that has been released by NCT as a whole unit!

Finally, one album earned a three million certification for February: BTS‘s most recent single album, Butter. It came out on July 9, 2021, and has just passed the three million sales mark that was needed to reach this milestone.
