JTBC has taken precautions against the current MERS scare, postponing the recording for Off To School.
On June 8th, a representative from JTBC further revealed that the recording was initially scheduled to take place in the Gyeonggi Province, the area where the first case of MERS was reported over two weeks ago.
“When and whether the recording will resume in the future is currently unknown.”
Should they run out of material to air after four weeks, there is a plan to fill the slot with a special feature.
Off To School is a variety show that features entertainers who return and experiences high school all over against with other normal 17-year-olds.
MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome), according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is “a viral respiratory illness that is new to humans […] Most people infected with MERS-CoV developed severe acute respiratory illness, including fever, cough, and shortness of breath. Many of them have died.”
So far, seven people have died due to MERS with 95 people with a confirmed diagnosis and more than 2,500 people quarantined.
