Kim Seong Yoon, the director of Netflix‘s sleeper hit K-Drama, The Sound Of Magic, publicly thanked IU.
According to Celuv Media, on May 9, Kim Seong Yoon shared a back story of how IU’s “Knees” were used in the drama.
The director revealed that the song was gifted to the drama by IU herself.
To use the song, we needed to clear the rights, so we contacted IU. IU then told us because she wrote, produced, and sang the song, she could give us full clearance and told us, ‘you can just use it for free.’ We were so thankful.

The director had worked with the singer/actress on their drama Dream High.
IU has previously stated her love for the song “Knees.” The song has become one of the singer’s most well-known songs, and in a past concert, the singer is to have said, “If ever I die naturally of old age, I would like to be known for three songs: “Knees,” “Heart,” and “Through The Night.”
The Sound Of Magic is based on a webtoon of the same name created by Yeon Jae Han in 2010.
IU is starring in the movie Broker, which will be released on June 8. The movie has already made news by being selected to be featured at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
