IU‘s honest confession about her popularity is making headlines.
IU recently made a guest appearance as the first guest for JTBC‘s Before I Was Famous. During her time on the show, she talked about the drastic change in her life before popularity and after popularity. The “LILAC” singer talked about the fear she had after shooting to popularity after her feature in “Nagging” with 2AM‘s Im Seulong.
After I rose in popularity, I wasn’t happy but rather fearful. I was also confused.
She explained further and shared the real reason behind her confusion.
I was confused because just two months before, I was on the same music program, but that time I was in the corner. They didn’t talk to me and the camera never focused on me. Two months later, I sat in the center and all of a sudden, all the questions were directed at me. I hadn’t change at all, but I didn’t know how to act during that time so I was very confused.
The singer and songwriter showed her incredible maturity by expressing that it wasn’t due to her, but the luck and timing of the situation.
I realized that none of it happened because I changed. It was all due to luck and the timing of the situation. When I think about it like that, the fear of losing the popularity fades. It’s not something I was born with, but rather a life’s bonus.
When asked about her fame and if she predicted her popularity, IU responded that she never saw it coming.
I didn’t think of it at all. I never thought that I would become a singer where the entire nation would sing my songs. I couldn’t even dream of it. It’s not something that happened because I chose it or because I wanted to become famous. It’s not something that will stop because I want it to stop either.
We will never get sick of her wisdom, her eloquence and maturity. You can watch IU talk about her fame and popularity on the most recent episode of Before I Was Famous.
