While mental health is still quite a taboo topic in South Korea, Ryu Sera has been open about her personal journey, detailing her experiences through her Instagram. Her most recent upload discusses her diagnoses, panic depression and ADHD and how she’s been living with them — for the past two years.

I went to a big hospital at the recommendation of the writer, Hyunjin. Even though I don’t want to rely on medication, I made this decision because I didn’t want to regret neglecting any potential treatment. How have you all been doing?

It’s been 2 years since I was diagnosed with panic depression and it’s been 4 months since I have been receiving treatment for my ADHD. The day has officially come where instead of relying on medication, I can communicate with a psychologist instead.

I have learned a lot and discovered an important truth. I wanted to share it with you all in case it can help you. Sometimes, people with attention deficit disorders or hyperactivity disorders will only receive treatment for depression because of their anxiety. I strongly advise that you get tested for both together.

With that said, I hope you all have a lovely day today!
