Comedian Kim Tae Gyun Apologizes For Mocking (G)I-DLE Shuhua’s Pronunciation On Radio Show

He apologized directly to Shuhua.

Comedian and radio show host Kim Tae Gyun was recently caught in up in a controversy for mocking (G)I-DLE Shuhua’s pronunciation during their appearance on his radio show.

On August 9, Kim posted on his Instagram, “I would like to apologize to (G)I-DLE’s fans and everyone for my behavior in copying a foreign member of the group’s pronunciation on the August 6 broadcast of my radio show.”

(G)I-DLE made a guest appearance on SBS Power FM’s Cultwo Show and revealed a story about the time Shuhua ate chicken from the convenience store.

After telling the story, Kim mocked Shuhua’s pronunciation for the words ‘chicken leg’ and ‘wing’.

Some of the listeners of the show felt that Kim was mocking foreigners and felt that it was inappropriate behavior.

Kim stated, “I in no way meant to mock anyone and just thought it was cute the way she tried to pronounce the words correctly. I am sure that this might have been uncomfortable for some listeners. I have contacted Shuhua directly and apologized for my actions and am posting this message as a separate apology.”

He added, “I will make sure to be more cautious and respectful when hosting shows. Thank you for reading my long post.”

Cultwo Show airs every day at 2PM through SBS Radio Power FM.
