The BTS Members Are The Biggest OT7 Stans, And Their 2022 GRAMMYs Rehearsals Are Proof

OT7 forever! 💜

Nobody is a bigger OT7 stan than the BTS members themselves!

While preparing for their incredible performance of “Butter” at the 2022 GRAMMYs (also known as the 64th GRAMMY Awards), the members did not get much time to rehearse with all 7 members. Jin wasn’t able to do some of the choreography because of a finger injury, and J-Hope and Jungkook were both in quarantine due to COVID-19.

The other members (RM, Suga, Jimin, and V) felt the absence of these 3 during rehearsals. Even their performance director and choreographer, Son Sung Deuk, noticed that the members shone more brightly when they were together as 7. He said he “could really tell when they were practicing that it has to be all seven of them—that these guys really shine when they come together as a team.”

Son Sung Deuk revealed that rehearsals for the GRAMMYs performance weren’t going smoothly until J-Hope and Jungkook finally joined the other 5 members. He said, “It wasn’t quite working out that way at first, but then Jung Kook and J-Hope came and things progressively improved as they all worked together. It’s actually not their individual abilities that’s important but the harmony between all the members, so I was really amazed by the synergy they exhibited as I watched them once they were all back together.”

Son Sung Deuk also pointed out that J-Hope played an important role during BTS’s rehearsals as the group’s dance leader. He said that J-Hope sets the mood for practice and that the other members look to him for guidance.

The other members respect and admire J-Hope for the way he sets the mood during dance rehearsal or any kind of practice, so when he says they should try one more time, they realize that they really need the practice or something’s not quite right. That’s why the members say the atmosphere of the practice studio is entirely different depending on whether J-Hope is there or not, too. So he’s an important presence when it comes to practicing choreography.

The members themselves remarked on how deeply they felt J-Hope’s absence during GRAMMYs rehearsals during a live stream. Suga said, “Without J-Hope, the practice didn’t feel right.” Jimin said “there’s no order in the practice studio” without J-Hope.

The members and Son Sung Deuk also found ways to allow Jin to have a bigger role in the “Butter” performance without forcing him to suffer through the pain caused by his finger injury. Son Sung Deuk revealed that he came up with Jin’s role as the technician, so he could play an active role in the performance. He said, “The choreography could have interfered with his well-being and they still had the concert to do, so I thought up the technician role as a way they could all do the performance together without him feeling like the odd man out or overexerting himself.”

At the end of the performance, all the members danced together, and they ended the performance with a bang!

The members’ love and respect for each other are truly admirable, and we love seeing them excel as OT7!
