BTS’s “Butter” Becomes The Longest-Leading Hit Of 2021 As It Tops Billboard Hot 100 For 9th Week

They’re making history!

BTS‘s “Butter” is without a doubt the song of the summer!

BTS’s “Butter” has officially beat out Olivia Rodrigo‘s “Drivers License” for the “longest-leading hit of 2021” as it spends its ninth week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. Previously, “Drivers License” had an eight-week reign in January-March.

While Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow‘s “Industry Baby” gave some competition as it was this week’s most-streamed song with 40.6 million streams, it made its chart debut at No. 2. According to MRC Data, “Butter” was down 8% in streams but still had 8.1 million streams in the U.S. for the week ending July 29. Radio airplay was down 1% but still drew 30.5 million impressions.

In addition to being No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, “Butter” is No. 21 on the Radio Songs chat but drops 40-44 on the Streaming Songs chart. With 112,900 sold (down 2%), it tops the Digital Song Sales.

According to Billboard, BTS “has now spent a combined 15 total weeks at No. 1” on the Hot 100. This is only the beginning, right?! Previously, BTS became the first Asian act to just top the Billboard Hot 100 for more than four weeks. Last week, Billboard reported that BTS was also “the first act to displace itself at No. 1 with a new leader and then send the previous No. 1 back to the summit with no other acts holding the top spot in between.”

On Twitter, BTS and BIGHIT MUSIC have expressed their excitement and gratitude toward ARMY in this achievement.

Meanwhile, ARMYs are sharing their reactions to the news on Twitter.
