BLACKPINK To Hold “World’s First Virtual Fansign” Through ZEPETO

BLACKPINK is breaking new ground once again.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic made in-person fansigns impossible, many groups have taken to chatting with their fans online over video call. Now, BLACKPINK is taking things one step further with the world’s first virtual fansign held through the ZEPETO app.

BLACKPINK became the exclusive models for augmented reality app ZEPETO back in June this year. As part of the partnership, ZEPETO created personalized avatars of Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa for fans to interact with.

Shortly after the partnership was announced, the BLACKPINK members took to ZEPETO World themselves to play with fans in virtual “fanmeetings”—some of which went about as hilariously as you’d expect.

Now, Korean media reports that BLACKPINK will be taking ZEPETO to the next level with the “world’s first new concept virtual fansign event“.

We prepared a five-person stage for BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez, who will be reborn as 3D avatars in a situation where it’s difficult to meet the fans in person.

The fansign will be held through ZEPETO at 12PM Korean Standard Time on September 3. As of right now, the app has not released any further information on how fans can qualify for a spot.

The fansign coincides with the release of BLACKPINK’s ZEPETO dance performance video, which will feature avatars of the members (and Selena Gomez) performing the choreography to new hit “Ice Cream”.

Today, a teaser for the video was released on BLACKPINK’s official YouTube channel, showing off the cute virtual costumes and synchronized dance moves.
