BLACKPINK Features On Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia 2019 List

BLACKPINK is the first female K-Pop group to make the list.

BLACKPINK has been named on Forbes’ “30 Under 30 Asia 2019”, which recognised the region’s “Brightest Young Entrepreneurs and Innovators”.

In an increasingly “inclusive and diverse” list, BLACKPINK was credited as the “The All-Girl K-Pop Group Following BTS’s Footsteps And Taking Over The U.S.”. BLACKPINK is the first female K-Pop group to be shortlisted onto this prestigious list.

In an email interview, BLACKPINK’s Lisa attributed the group’s international success to the group’s composition.

“As a group with a multicultural background, we have the advantage of being able to speak language freely…  I think it is a great advantage when communicating with fans abroad as well as in Korea. Our music seems to be enjoyed by everyone regardless of race, age and gender.”

The girls then spoke on their goal to hold a North American tour – which is soon becoming a reality as the girl group embarks on their international “In Your Area” tour later this month.

It is still a dream to be able to hold a North American tour… The most significant part is letting more audiences hear our music live. We want to show the charm of BLACKPINK only with our vocals and performances. The stage where you breathe with your fans, the live scene is very much anticipated.”

They concluded their interview with reflection on their passion for music, and their development as a group.

It seems that passion for music deepens with time… Whenever an album comes out, it suggests various ideas about music, genre, style and concept. We want to show something more perfect. We are in the fourth year since our debut, and we think our group is still evolving.

BLACKPINK is slated to comeback with their latest single, “Kill This Love”, in early April.

BLACKPINK wasn’t the only K-Pop act to feature in this year’s edition. Soloist CL also made the list as the “first Korean singer to solo in a major New York venue.”

CL performs during the Closing Ceremony of the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympic Games.

Congratulations to both of them!
